Paranormal Vision

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious
— Albert Einstein (Germany) 1879-1955

A normal scene

Walking our dog home one day, I spotted a removal van parked outside the neighbour’s house.  The van’s back doors were open wide, and I noticed that the interior was empty.  A workman carried white sheets into the house.  ‘Ha!’ I thought.  So, Jenny is moving!   I had been wondering for a while how settled she felt in this part of the country. My suspicions were correct!  She was about to move out.

The van had vanished

I looked away for a second, distracted by the dog sniffing in the bushes.  The next thing I knew, the van had vanished!  And yet there was nowhere that it could have gone.  My mind started playing silly games.  Had the van gone around the corner into the next road?  I checked.   Nothing!  No sign whatsoever!  Had it done a quick U turn and driven past me out onto the main road?  No, don’t be ridiculous I told myself.  I would have noticed.  There was only one conclusion.  It had never existed except in my imagination.  It was a fantasy, but everything had felt so real.

Psychic phenomena

Tales like this are commonplace in books about psychic phenomena.  But how do you explain them? One idea is that they are momentary time slips.  The person (me in this case) somehow links into a different time in history and is experiencing a memory trace of that moment.  Using the intuitive ‘third eye’ (clairvoyance) the scene appears to be as real as anything seen by the physical eye. Both future and past events can be tuned into in this way.

The Ghosts of Versailles (1901)

The ‘Ghosts of Versailles’ is a famous example.  In 1901 two Oxford dons, wandering through the grounds of Versailles, suddenly entered into an 18th century scene of courtiers bustling around Marie-Antoinette, last Queen of France.  Somewhat bemused, they continued their walk towards the Petit Trianon. It was only later, when they made enquires and discovered that no one else had seen people in historical costume, that they began to wonder what was going on. Maybe this hadn’t been a play or a fancy dress party after all.

Over time the two ladies became convinced that they had been witness to the last moments of the old regime. They believed that they had accessed a ‘memory trace’ from 1789, moments before the full force of the French Revolution overtook the royal family. They argued that this was a moment in time almost certainly generating much powerful energy, and somehow they had unwittingly tuned into it.  Publishing their experiences in a book entitled ‘An Adventure’ (1911), the ladies risked their academic reputation in order to state the truth of what they both had quite clearly seen. The detail and historical accuracy within the book is remarkable, and the account has remained a compelling argument for the reality of paranormal phenomena ever since.

Time warp or clairvoyant message?

Had I just experienced my very own time warp?  Possibly.  Jenny did eventually move away, giving credence to my vision.  My question has always been why then? What made made me especially susceptible to paranormal vision on that day, walking the dog? Indeed, why did I see it at all? Was this some kind of message sent to me for a purpose?

Having given it much thought, I am inclined to believe that my curiosity about Jenny’s status attracted this psychic manifestation. My desire to know whether she would move brought me the answer.  I had been wondering whether Jenny was settled here – and this was the answer.  No!  At some point in the future, there would be a move, I was being shown.

Any action is preceded by thought

Jenny did move away, but it was eighteen months later. Quite a while after my vision. So why did it take so long? The image was well in advance of physical events. My guess is that the dog walking day was a pivotal moment for Jenny in her thoughts, and I had somehow linked into this energetically. Very possibly this was the time when her commitment to our home town finally fell away. Perhaps she lost heart in the place, setting in motion a series of thoughts and events which ultimately led to the move eighteen months later.

No action can take place without a thought preceding it. And those thoughts may be much earlier in time. The old proverb ‘mighty oaks from little acorns grow.’ comes to mind here. This would explain the time delay.

Back to Versailles (1901)

The same question may be asked about the two Oxford academics. Why did they experience such paranormal phenomena at Versailles, when others have not? My guess is that they attracted the experience to themselves through their curiosity, and their extreme sensitivity to the location. Powerfully connected to France in 1789 through study (and almost certainly past lives too) they pulled in this psychic manifestation through sheer energetic force of attraction.

My guess is that both ladies had unanswered questions about the scene they witnessed, If we could see the situation from soul level, it would be much clearer to understand. Their vast knowledge of the period (one was a French lecturer at Oxford), combined with their enquiring minds, has to have been a factor. No doubt past life connections with the 18th century French court, creating an extreme sensitivity to the location, contributed to the manifestation of this historic scene..
